It seems I have chosen a bad week to come back to Corner View, but persist I shall...
Valentines Day is one of those very gimmicky, American holidays, in my mind. My boss agreed with me briefly on the subject pointing out that if you really love someone then February 14th should not be the only day you should them how much. He is not a soppy kinda guy either, he is very straight and to the point.
Last year I had a lovely Valentines Day, despite having to work in the evening. I was staying in the pub in my village as the owners were away on holiday, and a friend was running it for them. Having so much space for the afternoon we decided that we'd invite people over and they could bring their own food and Ed cooked for all of us. We had the rugby on the television, and a really nice roast meal, all the food was dished into huge bowls for us to help ourselves. It was a fantastic afternoon and probably the best version of Valentines Day I will see.
I have no traditions, it is not so much celebrated in the UK, and until the week before, I don't think it was hugely pushed this year, what with everyone feeling the pinch as they say....

Yes I do agree, sharing and expressing love should be everyday.xo
Yeah, I agree as well. Love is not a holiday, it's everyday. That last V-day you had sounds awesome.
day in, day out loving is definitely much preferred, but my kids get very excited when there is any holiday with chocolate involved. i just like seeing red and pink together.
I'm glad you are back! Sounds like a great evening with friends, I love those kind of moments.
